A still image can, often, be a thousand times better than an animation even if only because animation is so much harder to get right. When you're animating something it needs to be perfectly fluid and natural or it'll just seem stilted and awkward. Facial expressions are more difficult to get right, you often times need to worry about sound design and blah blah blah. Basically, I don't think a video is inherently better than a collection of images. THAT BEING SAID if I was ever going to consider animating one of my pieces, it'd likely be this one. I just really like the set up and I think seeing it animated would actually add something, since the movements are pretty different from the norm. I messed around a lot with lighting and advanced bonemod animation for it, and some stuff worked out better than others. For example, the lighting can definitely be kind of harsh in certain shots, even if it looks pretty good in others. Sometimes it's too bright, sometimes it's too dark... overall, I'd avoid doing it like this next time. I think a less jarring lighting system just looks better 90% of the time. And the facial expressions on Orime might come across as funny or goofy as opposed to hot sometimes. I dunno. Up to you. I like them, though, and I'd rather do this than the really generic, meme-y ahegao faces. Those can be good every so often, but sometimes they just look way too crazy. Not to say it's perfect, but I think it looks far better than it has any right to. And Felicity even kinda looks like Felicity. Normally I'm absolutely terrible at making characters based off real people, but here I think it sort of... worked. I like how Fat Bastard looks. Not in the sense that he looks like the character, since he definitely doesn't have the right physique, but I think he's got that Ao Oni quality of just looking interesting by virtue of how strange his body is. Of course, the real fat bastard had giant, saggy man-tits and multiple chins, which isn't something that can be replicated in HS2, unfortunately. At least, not as far as I know.   Okay, so I definitely made it too green. Huh. I really thought it was one of those Gameboy aesthetic games that have been popular recently. Guess I overdid it a bit. Oh well.  Anyway, this comic is based off an indie horror game called From Next Door, which is kind of Junji Ito inspired. The entire comic is based on one of the bad endings, namely this one: Why? Granted, this particular monster didn't turn out as well. The Oni is still probably the most fun I've had making a comic since just putting him in a scene is fun.   Okay, so here's a weird one. It's four pages because... well, let's face it, it's basically a meme. It's a character from a language learning app. I may as well make porn of a moemorphed Rosetta Stone. I didn't want to do a full comic with a proper male lead or anything since that would just be kind of a waste of effort. I used Duolingo for a little while during lockdown, but just sort of... stopped, eventually. Still, while I was using it I liked Lily. 'Tsundere goth girl' is always a winning archetype in my book.  I'm almost bothered with how well she came out, not because she just looks HEAPS like her cartoon counterpart, but because she's really freaking cute.   So here's a weird one. There's literally no text. It's odd. Like, I was getting ready to add in some dialogue - just the stuff you'd expect, with the shota being all nervous and the nurse teasing him a little - but I felt like it would just look... cheesy.  Like, I feel like you GET exactly what's going on in the image without any words needing to be said. If you don't: the shota is going to give Valentine's Day chocolates to the school nurse, who he has a huge crush on despite her constantly messing with him. She KNOWS he's got chocolates and is going to - essentially - confess to her and is hiding her excitement and anticipation behind the usual, smug confidence.  So yeah. Just an... image. It feels weird, but hey. What can you do? Sometimes things just turn out better than expected, I guess.
